Visits

Barbara's Visits

I love to visit schools. I can tailor my presentations to a wide age-range of students – from preschoolers to high-schoolers. I also enjoy speaking at writing workshops for teachers, library conferences, historical society meetings, and gatherings for literary, service and professional organizations.

School Presentations

I am comfortable speaking to any size group of students. I can present up to three programs per day, lasting roughly 30 to 60 minutes each, with the programs pegged to the students’ grade level. I also enjoy meeting with 10-15 students during a lunch session, where we talk about books, story ideas, the students’ writing, and my work. I am happy to sign books during my visit.

Workshop and Meeting Presentations

I offer several programs tailored to the tastes and needs of adult organizations. My programs typically last an hour, though they can be shortened if time is limited. I am also available to give keynote addresses.

Here's what educators are saying about Barbara and her school presentations:

I just want to thank you again for spending time with the students of Selma Elementary. Everybody, students and adults, are just raving about you…the good insights, quality of presentations, great literature…the complete package! It has been an experience that we will never forget. You really touched some hearts and probably changed some futures.

I thought that you did a great job getting your message across to our K, 1, 2 students. I know firsthand how difficult that it is to keep the attention of young students and you did a fabulous job…Most students still did not want to say good-by at the end of your program. Involving the students in your presentation was wonderful.

Barb Morrow did an excellent job giving a presentation of her book A Good Night for Freedom to 5th- and 6th-grade students and their parents. She shared the struggles she went through when writing and trying to get her book published. From her presentation, students learned not to give up but instead to keep trying and working hard.

What an amazing program! The students as well as the staff thoroughly enjoyed it. They absolutely loved the book Mr. Mosquito Put on His Tuxedo and how you explained what you do as an author…The program really connected to the lessons we are doing in writing.
